10:39 PM CT A proposed trade has been brought up with Memphis involving OJ Mayo, Antoine Walker, Marko Jaric and Greg Buckner being traded to Memphis for Kevin Love, Brian Cardinal, Mike Miller and Jason Collins. We will wait and see if this trade happens it would get rid of a lot of bad contracts but it would be hard to give up OJ Mayo. 10:30 PM CT The Timberwolves have traded Mario Chalmers to the Miami Heat. What a wasted pick that was! 9:53 PM CT The Timberwolves just finished their draft and I couldn't be more disgusted in the way they ended. We started out great taking OJ but Pekovic and Chalmers in my opinion were the two worst picks we could have ended up with. Pekovic has lottery talent sure but he is at least 3-4 years away from playing in this league and I just don't like the sound of that. Why not take DeAndre Jordan here? The dude has gone from the lottery to falling out of the first round and he is just sitting there. Why not take the chance on this kid and we need a center right now, just a typical McHale pick. Chalmers is the same player as Mayo and only makes our backcourt more crowded. 9:06 PM CT We will be taking a quick break until the T'Wolves are back on the clock at the 31st pick. 8:54 PM CT Utah gets Kosta at 23 after he slid out of the lottery, I was really hoping the Timberwolves would trade up and get him if he would have fallen more. Seattle took a big gamble taking Ibaka after his agent called teams and advised them not to take him in the first round after he just signed a contract to play overseas. Both picks here are potential picks here and could turn out to be pretty solid picks in a few years. 8:38 PM CT Courtney Lee is one of the best seniors in the draft and reminds me a lot of Rodney Stuckey in terms of potential as they both came into the draft as seniors who were underrated. I think he can make a similar impact on the Magic this season off the bench. 8:32 PM CT Recapping the last three picks the Cavs took JJ Hickson, the Bobcats took Alexis Aijnca and the Nets took Ryan Anderson. These picks were all a bit of a surprise to me as Hickson doesn't really fit on the Cavs in my opinion but the Bobcats did a good job grabbing a center in Aijnca would offers great potential as the 20th pick but still is very raw. But his wingspan is 7'8 so that has the Bobcats drooling. The Nets made the second shocker pick in the draft by taking Ryan Anderson who is a good prospect but not pick 21 good. 8:15 PM CT Finally we have a trade proposed and this one is a shocker between the Blazers and the Pacers as Bayless and Rush would be switching teams. If this goes down, the Blazers would be loaded at the guard positions with Bayless and Roy. Indiana would get Rush would would team up with his brother Kareem Rush and they would also get Jack who's potential has been hindered in Portland due to a lack of playing time. Not sure why Indiana is getting rid of Bayless but my guess is they just picked him because he was the highest on the board and they knew they could get good value in a trade but they are giving up a lot for just Rush and Jack. Diogu is a steal in this trade for the Blazers as I still think he will be a very good power forward in this league. 8:09 PM CT This pick looks to be going to the Pacers in the O'Neal trade and its a good move for the Pacers who now have added Bayless and Hibbert tonight. The Pacers needed a center and they got one of the most NBA ready centers in the draft in Hibbert who hurt his stock by staying in school. 8:04 PM CT Speights will be the starting forward in a year for the 76ers mark my words. This guy would have been a top 5 pick next year had he stayed at school but he will go to Philly and get playing time right away so good move by him. 7:57 PM CT Robin Lopez goes #15 which I think is a little bit high for him but he is going to bring the Suns lots of energy on the defensive end which the Suns desperately need. 7:52 PM CT The Warriors get a bunch of potential here at pick #14 as Randolph has just as much potential as anyone else in the draft. He still is very raw but his athleticism at his size is something you don't see very often. The Warriors could have a steal right here at #14 and should have the Kings kicking themselves for passing up Randolph. 7:47 PM CT I love this pick right here by the Blazers as Brandon Rush is ready to make an impact right now and his game incredibly smooth. Rush joins Roy, Oden, Webster and Jack to create one of the scariest young teams in the league. A+ for this pick right here, I think Rush has the potential to be an all-star with his long wing-span and his ability to play multiple positions. 7:41 Pm CT Jason Thompson at #12....are you serious? I'm still in shock with this pick as it is quite a reach. The Kings should have traded down to get Thompson in the late teen's or 20's but instead they took Thompson and passed up on guys like Randolph, Rush, and Arthur. This better work out otherwise Kings fans will be talking about this pick for years as one of the biggest reaches in franchise hhistory. 7:34 Pm CT The Pacers just got the steal of the draft in Jerryd Bayless at #11 as he was a for sure top 5 pick a week ago. I think Bayless will be one of the best players in this draft when you look back at this class five years from now. He goes to a team in the Pacers who have some talent around him that should help him develop faster. 7:29 PM CT Brook Lopez offers great value here at the #10 pick as he was even mentioned to go #3 to Minnesota. Lopez fell a little bit because of questions about his athleticism and his desire to be an all-star player but he still is the best center in the draft. He should be the starting center for the Nets for many years to come as they need some size out there in New Jersey. 7:26 PM CT I really thought Brook Lopez would go #9 to the Bobcats but the Bobcats are still unsure about Felton at point guard so they took one of the most natural point guards in the draft in DJ Augustin. This gives them great depth at the guard position but what does this move mean for Feltons future, my guess is that they will try to make it work but this most likely means Felton could be gone in a few years. 7:18 PM CT Gordon goes to LA which is good move for them as he can give them a scoring punch next to Elton Brand. This move also gives them the flexibility to move Maggette if they want. The Bucks go with Alexander despite getting Richard Jefferson earlier in the day but Alexander is a tough nose player that the Bucks will love to have coming of the bench. 7:07 PM CT The Knicks take the young Italian Gallinari here at #6 which is a great pick for the Knicks as they are getting a future all-star who can shoot and create his own shot with the best in this draft. This guy may not be a popular pick but its the right move here for the Knicks and it can't help that his dad is friends with the head coach. 7:03 PM CT So far we are 5/5 in our mock draft as the Grizz take Kevin Love here at #5 which is a very safe pick here. Love should give them a great inside presence for many years to come. Picture Conley, Gay and Love in a starting lineup for the next 5 years, things are looking pretty good in Memphis. This still means Love could be coming to Minnesota if Memphis gives the T'Wolves an offer they can't resist for Mayo. 6:52 PM CT The Sonics make a surprise pick here and take Westbrook like we predicted in our mock draft. His speed and athleticism should really help the Sonics out. So far this draft hasn't been full of drama like everyone predicted but things should pick up here in the next few picks with trades. 6:47 PM CT The Timberwolves make the right move here and take OJ Mayo. Now the question is will he remain here? I pray that we hold onto him here as he is the big name guy we need on our team. Finally we do what we should in the draft. Let's get this season started right now! 6:42 PM CT Michael Beasley ends up going #2 after days of rumors of the pick being traded. This most likely means OJ will the next pick in the draftWelcome. The Heat made the right move here they need a post player next to D-Wade. Beasley will be one hell of a player down in Miami and they should be in the playoffs next year. 6:37 PM CT Derrick Rose is the #1 pick in the draft and will now play for his hometown team. The addition of Rose will most likely end up with Hinrich, Gordon or Hughes being moved. Rose will be a great point guard to build around as he can dish and score with ease. 6:06 PM CT Andy Katz reports the Bulls will select Derrick Rose. No surprise here with that decision. 5:30 PM CT It looks like OJ Mayo will be a lock at #3 for the Timberwolves but it is still unsure if he will remain with the Wolves once the day is over. Right now it is Kevin Love or OJ Mayo unless Michael Beasley becomes available. 3:00 PM CT The Bucks just acquired Richard Jefferson for Yi and Bobby Simmons. I love this trade for the Bucks as they just added a huge weapon and were able to hold onto their draft pick as well. They got rid of the big contract of Simmons and parted ways with the unhappy Yi and were able to add one of the best small forwards in the game. I'm not quite sure what New Jersey is thinking here but it is clear they are starting over. This trade is very good for Yi who will go to a larger media outlet in New Jersey and a place where he wants to play. Looks out for the Bucks folks with Jefferson and the 8 pick(most likely Alexander), the Bucks could be a playoff contender next year. |
